Amy & Eli's Island EXCURSION!

Today was an EXTREMELY ADVENTUROUS day! Ok, there is this beach I have been wanting to go see called Pointe De Bluff, but the dirt road that leads to the beach says, "NO AUTOMOBILES, SCOOTERS, or PEOPLE ALLOWED" Well, we have been feeling very adventurous lately so we decided to go down the little dirt road anyway!!! All I can say is that I'm glad we have a go kart! lol! The whole time I was waiting to be shot or attacked by someone's guard dogs bc it was technically private property... BUT we made it safely to the end of the road! The ride was like something out of a movie... there was lush flowers to the left and right of us, and beautiful butterflies fluttering all around us.... and then when the road ended... PARADISE! It was very abandoned though, it may have been a resort at on time, we think it was all washed away by Hurricane Louis in 1995 maybe? But the views were amazing and we got some awesome pictures... go check them out, I posted them under "new adventures!" So after we walked the beach, we got back in the go kart and decided to go over to Marigot since we were half way there anyway (Marigot is the French-side capital city). When we got into Marigot we stopped at Sarafina's French Cafe' and ordered a bagget and this chocolate swirl pastry thingie to die for!!!! Then we figured that we would go check out Fort Louis that is at the top of one of the mountains right down the road... so we drive up as much as we can with the go kart, then we park and we had to but a huge rock behind the tires so the go kart would be there when we got back from our hike! LOL! Then we had to walk up one million stairs up to the Fort! The view was spectacular!!!! I think Fort Louis is one of the highest points on the Island! I got some fabulous pictures you must see! Eli was cracking me up because he climbed up on the flag pole thingie and I got some funny pictures of him :) I was exhausted after that hike, so then we headed back into Cupecoy... BUT FIRST we decided to turn down each dirt road we saw on the way back!!! We found some really interesting beaches! We have decided that ALL dirt roads led to beaches! Some beaches that are sometimes meant to be undiscovered!! Unfortunately, we found this hidden "Gay Beach" near Cupecoy while we were out on our excursion! I had to protect my man! haha! But some of the other beaches we found had great views and the water was so clear... You could see right to the bottom! Today was so great, I'm so blessed to be able to have these wonderful experiences with my husband! I just wish I could also share them with all of you too! :( Come visit and we shall have many adventures! LOL! Love, Amy

LIFES A BEACH!

Today was the best beach experience ever! We tried out a new beach in Phillipsburg today.... it was called Divi Little Bay! So fun! They had the BEST snorkeling so far on the Island! We rented some snorkel fins and went out about 500 yards from the shore into these rock beds and it was amazing! I wish I had an underwater camera... today for the first time I saw an EEL!!! I was so scared bc he was about 4 ft long and I didnt know if he was dangerous?! I just swam as fast as i could AWAY from him! Also, Eli was feeling a little adventurous... so he decided to turn over some rocks in the rock beds and we found the weirdest thing under one of the rocks.... it was sort of like a starfish, but it resembled a spider by the way it crawled across the rocks? It had spiny things on it and it was bright red!! Anybody know what the heck that was?? We didnt touch it, just watched it find a new home in the rocks! I also got to see a tiny baby OCTOPUS... ("I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine, my squishy" ~DORIE) the cutest thing i ever saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this particular snorkel spot there were sunken boats and things under the water, so we got to see some cute schools of fish and such (and swim with them).... it was such a great day! After we snorkeled i got to swim in this private beach swimming pool that was made of rocks in the ocean... i have pictures of it.. i have them posted on my myspace page www.myspace.com/amykon When you come to visit us in Sint Maarten... this will be our first stop for your vacation!!! Miss everyone!

Island Life

Hello from St. Maarten!  We are doing well and getting use to "Island Time"... everything is at a slower pace here.  The only things that are fast moving are the lizards!  Today at the swimming pool a lizard actually jumped on Eli's arm, sniffed him (like a dog would), and jumped off!  It was the cutest thing ever! This week we are going to Pinel Beach to snorkel with some friends... im excited about that! This is a new blog thing for me, so i will update often and talk to you soon! Love, Amy K!
